About DeSousa Labs
DeSousa Labs is an independent engineering lab exploring autonomous systems, embedded computing, navigation, simulation, and verification through practical experimentation and working prototypes.
Focus Areas
- Autonomous systems and mission-level decision making
- Embedded systems for sensing, navigation and control
- Simulation environments for autonomy and hardware testing
- Navigation and state estimation
- Verification and validation of engineering systems
Approach
Work here favors working prototypes over theory alone, and simulation environments built with the same rigor as production software. Systems are designed to be testable from the outset, moving from simulation to hardware deliberately rather than as an afterthought.
Current Work
Current projects span autonomous underwater vehicle navigation, an embedded GNSS/INS navigation computer, and an ocean simulation environment used to validate both. See the projects index for details.
